The Centre of Philosophy of the University of Lisbon (CFUL), the Centre for the Philosophy of Sciences of the University of Lisbon (CFCUL) and the Institute of Philosophy of NOVA University of Lisbon (IFILNOVA) organize the Lisbon Circle Reading Group.
The reading group will meet fortnightly, on Wednesdays, from 14:00 to 16:00.
The reading for this term will be Theodore Sider’s “The Tools of Metaphysics and the Metaphysics of Science” (Oxford University Press).
The book is based on Sider’s 2016 John Locke lectures at the University of Oxford. It “explores how changes in our metaphysical approach change what metaphysics tells us about the world” and “offers a new philosophical view of structuralism in science and mathematics”.
